The Bingham County Planning and Zoning Commission in southeastern Idaho has approved a permit allowing a man to install a wind turbine to generate electricity.

Commissioners approved the special use permit for Terry Hone on Wednesday. Hone says sustained winds near 30 mph could allow the wind turbine to produce 20 kilowatts of power.

He says the wind turbine will be a three-legged lattice tower with 30-foot blades.

Hone says he decided to install a wind turbine because every one should be doing their part to use alternative energy.
