The MSU-Great Falls College of Technology has received a $1.97 million federal grant to develop wind energy technician and industrial technology programs in Great Falls and at other colleges.
The Department of Labor grant will help the Great Falls school along with the MSU-Billings College of Technology, Montana State-Northern and the Montana Tech-College of Technology to create and implement shared wind energy and industrial technology programming.
The 3-year grant will allow the campuses to evaluate existing programs and share resources. It will also help the colleges with startup costs including acquiring needed equipment and instructors.
The Wind Montana project will develop 1-year certificate programs in general industrial trades. Those who chose could continue on a more specific wind technician program, which would end with an associate of applied science degree.
